Below the Beltway Camera Department

‘Below the Beltway’ to Premiere at Newport Beach Film Festival

A film that shot in DC over the summer that I worked on within the camera department (that's us above with the lead, Tate Donovan) is set to have it's premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival this Friday. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.

The film was a great experience with a wonderful crew and a talented cast including Tate Donovan, Kip Pardue, Annie Wersching and Sarah Clarke, among others. I haven’t seen it yet, nor do I live near Newport Beach so I can’t attend, but anybody in the area with an interest in quirky, political indepedent comedies should check it out. The script was excellent.

Synopsis: An inside, satiric peek at the people behind the power in Washington. A disgraced political operative sets out to redeem his reputation by exposing a decade-old sex scandal involving a U.S. Senator. The light-hearted, tension-filled movie culminates on a Sunday morning political talk show where careers are made and destroyed, unknown heroes emerge and all involved get not what they want, but what they truly deserve.

The movie was directed by Dave Fraunces with cinematography by Adam Silver. It’s runtime is 91 minutes. Once again, tickets can be purchased here.

I find looking at other slates to be extremely helpful. When I was first starting out as a 2nd AC, it was useful to see how others applied the principles I had learned about slating. So let's take a look at twelve completed clapperboards.
